Biological Structures Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Understand, maintain, and enhance existing data pipelines, including parsing and validation of structural data (.cif/PDB and beyond)
• Integrate and adapt data from a range of public and proprietary sources into reliable, reusable pipelines
• Work closely with ML scientists to ensure their data needs are met
• Ensure all data is stored in a secure, robust, and retrievable manner
• Perform code reviews and exemplify software engineering best practices
• Communicate technical work effectively across a cross-functional research and engineering team

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Cheminformatics or a related field
• Hands-on familiarity with structural biology data (.cif files, PDB)
• Proficiency in Python
• Strong software engineering practices and focus on maintainable systems
• Experience in a research-driven environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing data pipelines for large-scale datasets
• Familiarity with drug-discovery-relevant data types
• Experience contributing to a data lake or centralized data platform
• Exposure to cloud-based systems (AWS, Kubernetes) or HPC
• Background bridging science and software engineering
