Biological and Biomedical Sciences Laboratory Manager

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, ensuring a safe working environment in all teaching and research laboratories.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and coordinate required safety training for faculty, students, and staff.
• Conduct periodic laboratory safety inspections, maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and manage chemical inventories.
• Oversee the proper labeling, storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazard waste.
• Prepare laboratory supplies, equipment, and reagents according to faculty instructions for teaching sessions.
• Manage inventory of consumables, chemicals, and equipment, and perform simple repairs on laboratory tools.
• Hire, train, and supervise student workers to assist with laboratory preparation and cleanup.
• Manage the department's social media presence and coordinate departmental events to foster community engagement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in biological sciences, chemistry, or a health-related field with 2 years of related laboratory management experience.
• OR a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, chemistry, or a health-related field with 4 years of related laboratory management experience.
• Proven experience in laboratory management, including inventory management, ordering, and receiving.
• Demonstrated expertise in laboratory safety compliance and knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
• Ability to lift and transport laboratory supplies and stand for extended periods.
