Responsibilities

• Build production-grade bioinformatics workflows to process thousands of samples per day
• Develop novel algorithms to turn raw sequencing data into accurate insights
• Integrate cutting-edge tools into real-world pipelines
• Debug and manage biological artifacts and platform quirks in sequencing data
• Translate bioinformatics outputs into dynamic scientific UX for researchers
• Mentor teammates in a fast-moving, collaborative environment

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Physics
• 3+ years of experience building production bioinformatics pipelines
• Deep expertise in microbial genomics, variant calling, or RNA-seq
• Significant experience with Nextflow or Snakemake pipelines and cloud deployments
• Strong understanding of sequence analysis principles like alignment and assembly
• Solid molecular biology foundation with Illumina or Oxford Nanopore experience
• Proficiency in Python (numpy, pandas, biopython, Jupyter) and conda
• Experience with Docker, Apptainer, Singularity, and Git/GitHub
• Experience building intuitive web tools for bioinformatics analysis
• Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and production-ready code
• Experience with large-scale genomic data processing and storage

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with compiled languages like C++ or Rust
• Interest in data visualization for scientific UX
• 1+ year of biology wetlab experience
• Track record of developing novel bioinformatics algorithms
