Bioinformatics Scientist

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development projects by translating research concepts into diagnostic assay products through data analysis and computational modeling
• Conduct complex analyses within various product or technology areas to identify problems and discrepancies
• Manage bench-generated data and bioinformatics outputs within high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing environments
• Provide technical input for project planning, experimental design, and the development of research plans
• Prepare detailed technical procedures, protocols, reports, and scientific abstracts for publication or meetings
• Identify and address trends in study data and lead efforts in process improvement
• Mentor bioinformatics associates and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet department objectives

Requirements

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or a related field
• 1+ years of experience in the biotech, life science, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry
• Extensive experience using Linux-based HPC or cloud computing environments and associated tools
• Proficiency in writing custom code in at least three programming or scripting languages
• Strong knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and genomics
• Experience with statistical and mathematical methods in biology/genetics using software such as R or JMP

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of post-doc experience in industry or academia
• Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment, specifically in medical device development
• Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, preferably within GMP or ISO settings
