Bioinformatician

Responsibilities

• Develop custom bioinformatics pipelines using Nextflow
• Test and update pipelines to ensure accuracy and performance
• Curate test data for various pipeline components
• Develop custom testing scripts using Python
• Troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and conduct code reviews
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related engineering field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience developing bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data analysis
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting
• Experience with containerization using Docker
• Hands-on experience with orchestration languages such as Nextflow, GNU Make, or CWL/WDL
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools including GATK, SAMtools, BAMTools, and bedtools
• Knowledge of working with file formats such as Fastq, BAM, VCF, and JSON

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with database management using PostgreSQL or Redis
• Understanding of HIPAA security and privacy standards
• Knowledge of various sequencing methods including Sanger sequencing, MLPA, and PCR
• Strong technical documentation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
