About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist instructors in teaching students how to safely and correctly perform all laboratory experiments
- Guide students in understanding underlying chemistry concepts and techniques
- Prepare reagents, solutions, unknown samples, and other experiment-related materials under instructor supervision
- Ensure laboratory safety by monitoring student techniques and maintaining a clean workspace
- Prepare the laboratory for subsequent periods by organizing chemical solutions and securing waste bottles
- Assist with grading and other relevant duties as assigned
Requirements
- Successful completion of CHM 471 with a grade of B or higher
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and faculty
- Knowledge of safe laboratory practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Majoring in Biology or Chemistry
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting
