Biochemist Upstream Group Leader

Responsibilities

• Lead upstream biochemical processes including flask culture initiation, cell density monitoring, and bioreactor setup (WAVE and 50L SUBs).
• Manage sampling, feeding, and harvesting processes for bioreactors and deliver products to purification.
• Oversee inventory management of lab consumables and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Coach, train, and develop team members, including conducting performance reviews and managing training records.
• Coordinate workflow and monitor daily operations to ensure turnaround time (TAT) targets are met.
• Prepare and review job plans and collaborate with leadership to implement business directives.
• Adhere strictly to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field (or equivalent directly-related industry experience).
• 4+ years of related laboratory experience.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
• Strong proficiency in Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and scientific skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HEK/AAV development and sequencing for stability.
• Experience with cell line generation for new molecules.
• Proactive, solution-oriented leadership style.
