About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise London-based billing staff, providing training, performance oversight, and managing resource allocation.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely production of invoices for the London and Brussels offices in alignment with client guidelines.
  • Ensure strict compliance with VAT laws, SRA Accounts Rules, and Firm financial controls.
  • Monitor office Work in Progress (WIP) and drive process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Produce and manage complex billing requirements for senior partners, including pre-bills, credit notes, and specialized documentation.
  • Manage the London and Brussels billing mailboxes to ensure prompt responses and maintain an appropriate audit trail.
  • Collaborate with the London Finance Manager on month-end billing cut-offs, VAT returns, and e-invoicing requirements.
  • Partner with Pricing, Client Intake, and Compliance teams regarding rates, pricing issues, and KYC/CDD requirements.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluations for the London billing team.
  • Participate in e-billing project teams and assist with Aderant system upgrades and software changes.

Requirements

  • At least ten years of professional experience in a similar finance position.
  • Extensive law firm billing experience is a necessity.
  • Advanced working knowledge of CMS Aderant is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of European billing standards, VAT, and SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Proven man-management skills and experience leading teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Experience contributing to system implementations or software upgrades.
