API Legal Outreach is the largest social justice legal organization focused on the Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, and immigrant communities of the Greater Bay Area and the Central Valley. Our mission is to provide culturally competent and linguistically appropriate direct services to the most marginalized segments of our community.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal clerical and support services to attorneys and staff
• Manage telephone and client reception services, including screening calls and greeting guests
• Open and close the office
• Maintain client files, casework, reporting, and database systems
• Provide written and oral translation services
• Perform data entry and general office equipment maintenance
• Support facility management, office organization, and IT initiatives

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a legal office, human services agency, or equivalent setting
• Fluency in Cantonese, Vietnamese, or Spanish for interpretation and translation
• Demonstrated commitment to serving disadvantaged communities of color
• Ability to manage high volumes of telephone traffic
• Proficiency with office equipment (telephone systems, postage machines, copiers, scanners)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
