Bilingual Patient Financial Advocate

Responsibilities

• Screen patients on-site at hospitals (bedside or in the ER) to identify eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs
• Review hospital census to identify self-pay patients and initiate the application process
• Assist patients with enrollment applications and introduce them to available financial services
• Document all screening results and patient information in onsite tracking tools and hospital computer systems
• Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff and ensure strict confidentiality of patient information
• Perform occasional field work, including patient home visits, to assist with eligibility screening

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bilingual proficiency
• Basic computer skills
• Up-to-date immunizations (required due to healthcare setting)
• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or eligibility (hospital or government)
• Previous experience in a customer service role
