Covenant House New York (CHNY) has been at the forefront of transforming lives by providing comprehensive shelter, housing, and wrap-around support services for vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth for over 50 years.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community outreach and collaboration strategies to support newcomer youth
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Represent CHNY at community events and meetings
  • Conduct intake assessments and document findings within ETO
  • Verify identity of newly intake youth and ensure they meet qualifications
  • Guide youth through orientation to ensure a successful transition to the CHNY environment
  • Provide newcomer youth with resources including hygiene supplies
  • Handle high call volumes and answer inquiries regarding programs and services
  • Engage newcomer youth in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner
  • Maintain consistent up to date knowledge of CHNY daily census

Requirements

  • At least one year of work with at-risk youth
  • Knowledge of community services that support youth
  • High School Diploma required (BS/BA preferred)
  • Bilingual fluency is required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of community engagement and relationship-building techniques
  • Knowledge of youth engagement strategies
