About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage planning and development for a comprehensive bicycle wayfinding program
  • Conduct inventory and create a GIS database of all greenway and bicycle wayfinding signage
  • Analyze existing signage networks to produce a citywide strategy plan
  • Conduct on-site user testing and analysis of proposed strategy plans
  • Facilitate internal workshops and coordination with partner agencies
  • Document new design, content, and siting guidelines
  • Create the annual NYC DOT bike map using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Coordinate the maintenance and organization of bicycle facility GIS data
  • Review work produced by consultants and partner agencies

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in architecture from an accredited college
  • One year of full-time experience in urban design, planning, or related research
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience with CAD and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in the field in all seasons using bike, walking, or mass transit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in urban planning, urban design, geography, or cartography
  • Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft Access
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated interest in cycling and the NYC built environment
