About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage planning and development for a comprehensive bicycle wayfinding program
  • Conduct inventory and create a GIS database of all greenway and bicycle wayfinding signage
  • Analyze existing signage networks to produce a citywide wayfinding strategy plan
  • Conduct on-site user testing and analysis of proposed strategy plans
  • Facilitate internal workshops and coordination with partner agencies
  • Document new design, content, and siting guidelines
  • Create the annual NYC DOT bike map using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Coordinate the maintenance and organization of bicycle facility GIS data
  • Review work produced by consultants and partner agencies

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree and two years of experience in community work or related fields; or
  • High school graduation and six years of experience in community work or related fields
  • Experience in cycling in NYC
  • Willingness to work in the field in all seasons via bike, walking, or mass transit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in urban planning, urban design, graphic design, or geography
  • Proficiency with GIS mapping
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience with CAD and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with relational databases like Microsoft Access
