Bicycle Wayfinding Program Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Manage planning and development for a comprehensive bicycle wayfinding program
• Conduct inventory and create a GIS database of all greenway and bicycle wayfinding signage
• Analyze existing signage networks to produce a citywide strategy plan
• Conduct on-site user testing and analysis of proposed strategy plans
• Facilitate internal workshops and coordination with partner agencies
• Document new design, content, and siting guidelines
• Produce comprehensive signage network plans and progress reports
• Create the annual NYC DOT bike map using Adobe Creative Suite
• Coordinate the maintenance and organization of bicycle facility GIS data

Requirements

• Must be serving permanently in the civil service title of Graphic Artist or reachable on civil service list #4123
• Baccalaureate degree in fine or graphic arts plus one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist, OR equivalent technical training and experience
• Proficiency in GIS mapping and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator)
• Experience with CAD and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational, communication, and graphic design skills
• Willingness to work in the field in all seasons using bike, walking, or mass transit

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience in urban planning, urban design, geography, or cartography
• Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft Access
• Demonstrated interest in cycling and the NYC built environment
