About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate referrals, undertaking initial assessments and triage
  • Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations
  • Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinate staff and volunteers
  • Manage recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers
  • Provide compassionate bereavement support through face-to-face, telephone, and video sessions
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure families receive guidance
  • Provide emotional and psychological support and identify need for specialist referrals
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations
  • Coordinate bereavement-related events
  • Maintain accurate records and manage service administration

Requirements

  • Recognised counselling qualification (DipHE, Foundation Degree, or equivalent)
  • Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised body
  • Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss, or end-of-life issues
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers
  • Excellent organisational skills with experience managing referrals and caseloads
