About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate referrals, undertaking initial assessments and triage
- Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations
- Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinate staff and volunteers
- Manage recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers
- Provide compassionate bereavement support through face-to-face, telephone, and video sessions
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure families receive guidance
- Provide emotional and psychological support and identify need for specialist referrals
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations
- Coordinate bereavement-related events
- Maintain accurate records and manage service administration
Requirements
- Recognised counselling qualification (DipHE, Foundation Degree, or equivalent)
- Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised body
- Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss, or end-of-life issues
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers
- Excellent organisational skills with experience managing referrals and caseloads
