About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end insurance enrollment processes (medical, dental, vision, disability, and life) for the student body.
- Serve as the primary liaison between students, medical providers, and insurance carriers to resolve claims disputes and verify coverage.
- Perform high-level reconciliation of insurance premiums and audit accounts to ensure billing accuracy.
- Provide technical data and support for the development of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and annual program reviews.
- Facilitate benefit presentations for student orientations and campus events.
- Draft clear communications, including web content and print materials, to improve student understanding of health programs.
- Support the coordination of employee wellness initiatives, such as the Employee Assistance Program and annual benefits fairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in student services, benefits, insurance, HR, or a related field; OR Associate's degree and 4 years of related experience; OR High school diploma and 6 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically using pivot tables and lookups for data reconciliation and analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex insurance information to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Background in student health insurance, benefits administration, or working with third-party administrators.
- Familiarity with student information systems, HRIS, or insurance carrier portals.
- Experience creating student-facing communications, FAQs, or web content.
- Knowledge of health insurance terminology, eligibility processes, and claims appeals.
