About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary management and leadership in Benefits Administration
  • Serve as a specialist for complex benefit issues and problems
  • Manage and administer Public Employee Benefits Board (PEBB) and Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) benefits
  • Manage and lead benefits staff
  • Work closely with management to promote best practices and a collaborative workplace

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four years of progressively responsible human resource experience in benefit programs (including retirement, health insurance, and disability)
  • At least one year of supervisory experience facilitating employee growth and accountability
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying federal and state benefits regulations, rules, and policies
  • Demonstrated experience with vendor management
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including conflict resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise HRIS platforms such as Workday, PeopleSoft, or Dayforce
  • Experience with the state of Washington Public Employee Benefit Board or Paid Family Medical Leave programs
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Professional certification from a recognized human resource association
  • Experience in classification, compensation, employee relations, or labor relations
