Benefit Specialist Trainee

Responsibilities

• Learn and develop essential skills to manage a caseload of complex claims under the guidance of a formal mentor for 12 months
• Gain working knowledge of Unum products, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Analyze technical contractual information to ensure appropriate eligibility and liability decisions
• Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and paying claims accurately
• Produce clear documentation and technical rationale for all claim determinations
• Utilize various resources, including medical and vocational support, to assist in claim validation and return-to-work strategies

Requirements

• College degree preferred or equivalent professional work experience
• Proven customer service, decision-making, or problem-solving experience
• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills
• Proficiency with PC applications and the ability to work in an imaged environment
• Strong mathematical aptitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment
