About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the consistent implementation of the academy behaviour policy
- Maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment and manage student movement between lessons
- Work with the behaviour team to monitor and supervise students during breaks, lunch, and before school
- Manage afternoon detentions and oversee the entrance of students into the breakfast club
- Act as a liaison between the academy and the local community, including the police and local shopkeepers
- Mentor students on Personal Support Plans (PSPs) and support them within lessons
- Supervise students who are internally excluded, supporting their re-integration into mainstream lessons
- Follow up on truancy, attendance concerns, and student safety issues such as bullying
- Prepare student files for disciplinary panels or exclusion hearings
Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Two years of experience working in an inner city school or educational establishment
- Proven experience dealing successfully with challenging behaviour and diverse student needs
- Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Basic knowledge of first aid (e.g., emergency first aid course)
- Experience working with families and staff to ensure excellent behaviour for learning
