Behavioral Health Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic support and coordination for patients in the Inpatient Psychiatry department, focusing on mental health and substance use disorders.
• De-escalate patients utilizing CPI techniques and participate in the application of seclusion or restraints when appropriate.
• Facilitate educational, structured, and psycho-educational groups in accordance with patient care plans.
• Conduct safety rounds and ensure the milieu maintains a therapeutic environment.
• Document interventions in a succinct, goal-directed manner using the DAR format.
• Provide supportive care to patients and families, assisting with conflict resolution and stress management.
• Recognize and report abuse or neglect situations as required by law.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• CPI certification (required upon hire or within 60 days of hire).
• 2 years of prior experience working with patients experiencing addiction issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Addiction or Psychology.
• Recent experience (within the last five years) providing behavioral health care to patients.
