Behavioral Health Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide constant, uninterrupted one-to-one observation for assigned patients at risk for self-harm, aggression, or emotional distress
• Document accurate and objective safety observations in accordance with organizational policy and established intervals
• Report escalating patient behaviors, mood changes, and concerning activities to the clinical care team promptly
• Assist patients with basic activities of daily living, including meals, hydration, and ambulation
• Support patient orientation to the unit, reinforcing safety protocols, behavioral standards, and patient rights
• Conduct environmental safety rounds and immediately report potential hazards
• Assist with patient visitation by maintaining a calm environment and monitoring for behavioral triggers

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and observation skills
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Ability to maintain continuous alertness and adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or crisis situations
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly during emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with patient observation in psychiatric, behavioral health, hospital, or healthcare settings
