About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee beef operations including animal nutrition, health care, and nutrient management plans
  • Direct personnel resources and facilities for major herd events such as calving, breeding, and livestock sales
  • Lead and develop educational programs and teach classes as assigned
  • Implement safety programs and manage pasture grazing schedules and forage utilization
  • Support research, extension, and instructional activities in collaboration with the Beef Operations Manager
  • Manage specific program operations, including budget responsibilities and facilities maintenance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of progressively responsible relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Practical knowledge and experience within the beef industry
  • Proven experience in beef cattle management
  • Knowledge of pasture management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Animal Sciences or a related field
  • Experience in teaching, outreach, or supervision
  • Knowledge of budgeting and economic forecasting
  • Experience with Artificial Insemination or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols
