Battery Experimental Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist in the synthesis and processing of materials for all-solid-state and conventional lithium-ion batteries
• Perform materials characterization including ionic/electronic conductivity, structural analysis, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
• Conduct battery performance testing such as cyclic voltammetry and cycling performance evaluation
• Apply descriptive data analytics to experimental and computational datasets to identify performance drivers
• Communicate research findings through technical presentations, written reports, and documentation

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
• Advanced research experience in the design, synthesis, and processing of novel materials for electrochemical systems
• Proficiency with materials characterization techniques and electrochemical system performance evaluation
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Ability to work onsite in Silicon Valley, CA, for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge of electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry
• Familiarity with battery-related materials including electrolytes, electrodes, and interfacial phenomena
• Ability to connect fundamental scientific principles with real-world automotive and energy-storage challenges
