About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the synthesis and processing of materials for all-solid-state and conventional lithium-ion batteries
- Perform materials characterization including ionic/electronic conductivity, structural analysis, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
- Conduct battery performance testing such as cyclic voltammetry and cycling performance evaluation
- Apply descriptive data analytics to experimental and computational datasets to identify performance drivers
- Communicate research findings through technical presentations, written reports, and documentation
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Advanced research experience in the design, synthesis, and processing of novel materials for electrochemical systems
- Proficiency with materials characterization techniques and electrochemical system performance evaluation
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Ability to work onsite in Silicon Valley, CA, for the duration of the internship
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong foundational knowledge of electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry
- Familiarity with battery-related materials including electrolytes, electrodes, and interfacial phenomena
- Ability to connect fundamental scientific principles with real-world automotive and energy-storage challenges
