Battery Cell Engineer, Applications

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical point of contact for US OEM customers regarding battery cell topics
• Provide technical leadership in discussions covering cell design, performance, safety, lifetime, and manufacturability
• Translate customer application and system-level requirements into cell design inputs
• Develop test methodologies to evaluate cell and cell-in-pack performance for safety, performance, and durability
• Review and interpret cell test data to identify risks and drive root cause analysis
• Support customer-facing quality and industrialization activities including APQP and PPAP
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance cell technology and intellectual property
• Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally

Requirements

• MS degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science
• 7+ years of experience with hands-on testing of lithium-ion batteries
• Experience in Li-ion battery cell development and validation
• Experience in analysis using dQ/dV
• Knowledge of GITT, EIS, CV, and PITT
• Familiarity with cell manufacturing processes including electrode, assembly, formation, and aging
• Strong understanding of cell chemistry, electrochemical performance, and degradation mechanisms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of battery safety standards and regulations (UN38.3, UL, IEC, GB, FMVSS)
• Experience working with automotive or EV OEM customers
• Experience developing FMEA and supporting APQP/PPAP/audits
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English
• Hands-on experience in material characterization such as XRD, IR, or NMR
• Experience in large data analysis using Python or Matlab
