Basic Operator

Responsibilities

• Execute start-up and shutdown procedures for equipment and work areas according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform regular cleaning and inspections to prevent contamination and maintain hygiene standards.
• Ensure continuous availability of packaging materials by transporting them from storage to designated areas following 5S standards.
• Monitor product and packaging quality against set standards and report any faults or process abnormalities immediately.
• Maintain accurate administrative records, including shift hand-overs and production data such as cases packed and rejects.
• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and waste management protocols to ensure a safe and eco-efficient working environment.
• Collaborate effectively with the operations team to identify and communicate process or line issues to leadership.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science, or an N3 in Engineering.
• Proven experience working in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
• Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including accommodating factory shutdowns and training.
• Physical agility to move between workstations, ascend/descend steps, and handle manual loads.
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
