Bag Repair Technician

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of luxury bags from start to finish
• Replace and craft components including hardware, zippers, straps, handles, piping, and linings
• Utilize leather working tools and machinery, such as sewing machines, for restoration tasks
• Perform leather restoration including cleaning, conditioning, and recolouring
• Source and select appropriate types and grades of leather and fabric for repairs
• Disassemble and reassemble leather and fabric/canvas bags to brand standards
• Collaborate with the team while maintaining high levels of resourcefulness and commitment

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant experience as a bag repair technician, upholsterer, saddler, or leather goods maker
• Proven expertise in leatherwork or bag repair
• Familiarity with various bag constructions and components
• Experience working with premium fashion goods and a keen eye for detail
• Ability to mix dyes and paints to match colors
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience repairing and restoring footwear
• Ability to supervise and teach junior staff
• Experience with supplier sourcing and inventory management
• Relevant professional certification
