Backup Admin SME

Responsibilities

• Develop and exhibit technical subject matter expertise on assigned backup and storage systems
• Troubleshoot complex issues and act as an escalation point for all backup issues
• Design, innovate, deploy, and follow solutions to improve working processes
• Perform daily monitoring and management of the backup environment
• Perform problem management and incident correlation on recurring issues
• Create and update documentation for backup environments
• Handle performance tuning and licensing management
• Ensure regular reporting to management regarding performance and service levels

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Advanced knowledge of private and public clouds (GCP, Azure, AWS)
• Working knowledge of tape-based backup software (NetBackup, CommVault, HP DP)
• Understanding of network and SAN concepts for backup solution design
• Proficiency in Linux, Windows, and UNIX administration
• Experience with shell scripting, automation, and tool implementations
• Knowledge of OS, database, and volume management

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry standard certification for L3 skills
• Experience with enterprise-level monitoring tool sets
• Knowledge of backup hardware such as HP StoreOnce, EMC DataDomain, IBM Tape Systems, or Veritas NetBackup Appliances
• Ability to conduct training, address meetings, and manage vendor reviews
