Backend/API Engineer, Billing

Responsibilities

• Design the next generation of Stripe products to meet high-growth needs for customers
• Build and ship high-quality code daily for business-critical internal and external features
• Collaborate with experts in infrastructure, security, design, and operations
• Debug and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
• Mentor fellow engineers to support their professional growth

Requirements

• 2–12+ years of experience in backend software development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, or C/C++
• Hands-on experience building or contributing to large-scale distributed systems
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across different work streams
• Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and an entrepreneurial mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures
• Experience with subscription management, usage-based billing, or financial reporting systems
• Direct experience in leadership and mentorship
• Interest in financial infrastructure and revenue operations
