Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and pipelines for Arabic-enabled features like AI activity generation and resource conversion
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to operationalize AI/ML models and ensure proper RTL handling
• Develop robust APIs, data models, and asynchronous job workflows to support international expansion
• Support critical rostering or integration issues to maintain reliability for schools
• Contribute to architecture, technical roadmap planning, and engineering best practices for the Jordan team

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally with Python and AWS
• Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining backend services at scale
• Familiarity with REST APIs, RPC frameworks, and asynchronous job pipelines
• Comfort working within complex distributed systems and text-processing pipelines
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and self-documenting code
• Experience integrating with or consuming ML/AI models

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python, Flask, DynamoDB, Postgres, Redis, or message queues
• Experience working with AI/ML pipelines (OCR, ASR, NLP, TTS)
• Familiarity with localization, internationalization, and RTL text shaping
• Experience with SAML/OIDC, SIS/LMS integrations, or data interoperability standards
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS (S3, Lambda, event-driven architectures)
