About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of the routing layer for TyrOS, built on Valhalla.
- Extend routing capabilities to include multi-modal transport, time-dependent cost modeling, and integration with weather, terrain, and road availability data.
- Collaborate with the platform team to expose routing functionality through clean APIs and integrate it into broader workflows.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews to maintain high engineering rigor.
- Triage and debug routing issues in production to ensure reliability for operational needs at the tactical edge.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of software engineering experience with a focus on routing, navigation, or transportation systems.
- Direct hands-on experience building or extending routing engines such as Valhalla, OSRM, or Graphhopper.
- Proficiency in C++ or Rust.
- Familiarity with Go.
- Ability to independently design, implement, debug, and iterate on complex technical layers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience working specifically with Valhalla.
- Experience with multi-modal transport routing (ground, air, and maritime).
- Prior experience at a logistics, mapping, or supply chain technology company.
- Experience deploying software to cloud (AWS, Kubernetes) and edge infrastructure.
- Familiarity with OpenStreetMap data pipelines, PostGIS, or tile server infrastructure.
