Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure, APIs, and services at scale
• Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems behind high-volume, low-latency APIs
• Solve hard scalability, latency, and performance problems in live production systems
• Lead system design discussions and shape the direction of backend architecture
• Set best practices for backend development regarding throughput, reliability, and latency
• Validate performance through automated testing, benchmarking, and production-driven improvements
• Trace production issues across services and the full stack to ship durable fixes

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components
• Ability to solve complex design, scalability, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput systems
• Production experience with Java and Rust
• Experience in cloud-native environments, particularly AWS
• Experience building highly available and scalable distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS
• Web3 experience
• Experience in startups
• History of founding a company or building side projects
