Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalized new features for the Airbnb hosting experience to help hosts connect with guests more easily
• Build and maintain systems that drive reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency across the infrastructure
• Write clear technical designs for projects of moderate-to-high complexity, focusing on resilience and observability
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify requirements and manage technical dependencies
• Contribute to technical direction, coding standards, and operational best practices to raise engineering quality

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree (PhD candidates may be exempt from industry experience requirements)
• Proven experience building and scaling high-quality products or systems
• Strong focus on operational excellence and system reliability
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple timezones and stakeholders
