Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop robust and scalable backend systems and APIs
• Lead a team of backend and infrastructure developers through hands-on technical guidance and mentorship
• Implement best practices for code quality, maintainability, and security
• Enhance infrastructure including containerization, orchestration, and cloud-based solutions (GCP preferred)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of enterprise-ready features
• Implement scalability and performance optimization strategies
• Create and maintain documentation for system architecture and security practices

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building highly performant, scalable, distributed systems
• Proven expertise building, deploying, and managing Kubernetes-based applications in production
• Strong experience designing and implementing scalable SaaS systems
• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and mentoring developers
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure and SRE practices
• Strong understanding of security principles including encryption, authentication, and authorization
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and testing methodologies
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual)
• Ability to work onsite in San Mateo, CA
