Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services in Node.js/TypeScript, including RESTful APIs and data pipelines
• Architect and optimize Postgres database systems, including schema design and query optimization
• Implement real-time communication infrastructure using WebSockets and WebRTC
• Integrate third-party services such as LLMs (OpenAI/Anthropic), payment processors, and notification systems
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to build APIs and data pipelines for model predictions
• Own infrastructure, deployment, and observability including CI/CD pipelines and cloud cost optimization
• Design for performance and scale using caching strategies and optimized API response times

Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience building production backend systems
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
• Expert-level knowledge of Postgres
• Experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with WebSockets and WebRTC
• Strong understanding of observability, logging, and monitoring
