Backend Engineer

About the Company

Gradient Labs is building the AI customer operations platform for financial services. Founded in 2023, the team consists of builders from companies like Monzo, Wise, Mastercard, Revolut, and Google, working to eliminate manual work across customer support and back-office operations using specialist AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Build the OS for AI Agents by contributing to a safe, scalable platform for autonomous agent capabilities
• Design and own resilient systems that handle failures, retry storms, and resource starvation
• Take products from 0 to 1 and through to scale, making early architectural decisions
• Iterate in small increments with multiple deploys a day in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Substantial experience building production software at a fast-growing company (fintech, AI, or consumer tech)
• Proven experience owning complex, high-stakes systems end-to-end
• Deep fluency in Go (Golang)
• Proficiency with modern backend stacks including PostgreSQL, Temporal, GCP, and Kubernetes
• Senior, Staff, Principal, or Distinguished level of professional practice
• Strong product instinct and customer-centric architectural thinking
