Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting Fanatics Live products
• Develop reliable systems for real-time commerce, livestream interactions, and order processing
• Contribute to system design discussions and technical planning
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested production code
• Partner with Product, Mobile, Web, Data, and Infrastructure teams
• Optimize application performance, resiliency, and scalability
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar backend languages
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and distributed systems
• Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with cloud-native development and AWS services
• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tooling
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting high-scale consumer-facing applications
• Experience with livestreaming, marketplace, or e-commerce systems
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code
• Exposure to GraphQL, WebSockets, or real-time event platforms
