Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own high-throughput Settlement & Reconciliation services handling large financial datasets
• Implement financial calculations with high precision and handle complex edge cases and data anomalies
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data pipelines for performance and scalability
• Ensure idempotency, data integrity, and consistency across retries and partial failures
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Finance, and Operations teams to translate financial rules into deterministic logic
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable Python code

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience
• Strong proficiency in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL including complex joins, CTEs, and window functions
• Expertise in writing production-grade Python backend services
• Strong understanding of system design, algorithms, and data structures
• Experience with AWS services for deploying and operating distributed systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field
• Experience with database partitioning and sharding strategies
• Strong mindset for unit and integration testing
