Backend Engineer

Conduct is building the AI operating system that absorbs IT complexity for the world's largest enterprises. Having recently closed a $60M Series A, we are a small, talent-dense team focused on extreme ownership and high-velocity engineering to solve generation-defining infrastructure challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship foundational infrastructure to support large-scale enterprise scaling.
• Build platforms and shared abstractions that accelerate product teams by reducing plumbing complexity.
• Design and maintain reliable infrastructure that meets stringent enterprise requirements.
• Manage and tame LLM infrastructure, including high token throughput and real-time usage.
• Own end-to-end systems including APIs, infrastructure, and data flows.
• Build well-designed systems for auth, observability, and job orchestration.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend experience with exposure to platform or infrastructure work.
• Proven experience moving systems from MVP to scalable, production-grade environments.
• Strong system design instincts and ownership of end-to-end problems.
• Experience with distributed systems, scaling databases (Postgres), queueing, and large-scale batch processing.
• Ability to benchmark and tune systems under real load.
• Familiarity with LLM infrastructure at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kotlin or the Java ecosystem.
• Experience with Temporal or PortKey.
• Ability to mentor others and raise engineering standards through code and system design.
