AVP, Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the engineering strategy for the North America Finance & Actuarial data platform.
• Architect and implement automated, no-touch data pipelines and integrations to reduce operational risk.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices, including AI-augmented code generation and intelligent data quality monitoring.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for high-complexity initiatives such as cloud migrations (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks) and ETL modernization.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment standards across strategic applications.
• Mentor and develop engineers across multiple squads to build a culture of engineering excellence.
• Partner with architects and business stakeholders to translate technical strategies into clear communications for executive leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of progressive data engineering experience, including ETL/ELT development and data warehouse design.
• 8+ years of experience with ETL development tools, specifically Informatica or IICS.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure (Synapse, Data Factory) and Snowflake.
• Strong proficiency in Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark, workflows).
• 3+ years of experience with job scheduling tools like Autosys.
• 3+ years of scripting experience in Python or Shell.
• Must be based in the New Jersey or Greater Philadelphia area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Insurance industry experience, particularly within the P&C domain (financial reporting, actuarial data, or claims).
• Experience leading or influencing cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proven track record of driving engineering transformations using DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code.
