AVP, E&S Property

Responsibilities

• Drive acceptable submission activity and determine risk acceptability in accordance with Sompo guidelines
• Review applications and financial requirements to assess risk and pricing components
• Utilize underwriting tools and pricing models across various structures including guaranteed cost, captives, and SIRs
• Perform strategic account reviews and maintain thorough file documentation
• Analyze adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and declinations to drive territory results
• Maintain current knowledge of state/territory regulations and industry trends
• Attend client and broker meetings to build and maintain professional relationships
• Travel to aggressively market assigned territories
• Mentor Underwriting Trainees and junior underwriters

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of underwriting or insurance experience
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with agents and brokers
• Established track record of profitable underwriting, quoting, and binding business
• Experience working with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• High attention to detail and a collaborative mindset
