AVP, E&S Property

Responsibilities

• Drive acceptable submission activity and determine risk acceptability in accordance with Sompo guidelines
• Review applications and financial requirements to assess risk and pricing components
• Utilize underwriting tools and pricing models across various structures including guaranteed cost, captives, and SIRs
• Perform strategic account reviews and maintain thorough file documentation
• Analyze adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and declinations to drive territory results
• Maintain knowledge of state/territory regulations and industry trends
• Attend client and broker meetings to market assigned territories
• Mentor underwriting trainees and junior underwriters

Requirements

• Minimum of 8+ years of underwriting or insurance experience
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with agents, brokers, and insureds
• Experience working with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers
• Established track record of profitable underwriting, quoting, and binding business
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to travel as needed to market assigned territories
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
