Avionics Telemetry Engineer

Responsibilities

• Contribute to instrumentation, network, and telemetry system requirements development, architecture design, testing, and operation
• Support flight operations by ensuring data system assets are prepared for flight test
• Support the selection of and harness design for new sensors, data acquisition units, and network equipment
• Manage and configure aircraft instrumentation systems for real-time mission monitoring and post-flight analysis
• Support development and maintenance of software tools including configuration management and simulation tools
• Determine, document, and manage subsystem requirements for new configurations
• Develop and support instrumentation, network, and telemetry tests
• Support integration testing such as power checks, sensor calibration, and equipment checkout
• Collaborate with design engineers, network engineers, and technicians
• Prepare data system material for design reviews and flight readiness reviews

Requirements

• Experience in Telemetry, Instrumentation, or Network engineering in an operational or regulated test environment
• Experience with Ethernet networking (TCP, UDP, multicasting)
• Experience integrating data acquisition instrumentation (Analog, discrete, ARINC 429)
• Knowledge of RF devices such as transmitters, receivers, and encoders/decoders
• Experience with data acquisition systems and dataloggers
• Experience writing system requirements
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, C++, C#, or Python)
• Familiarity with continuous integration toolchains (Jenkins or Bamboo)
• Experience with source control systems (Git)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex payload or guided systems
• Experience integrating high Mach or hypersonic systems onto military platforms
• Flight test program instrumentation system experience
• Experience designing and manufacturing aircraft harnesses
• Knowledge of IRIG 106 standards
• Experience with requirements management tools like JAMA or Doors
• Active TS/SCI security clearance
