Responsibilities

  • Define hardware interfaces in collaboration with avionics, mechanical, and integration teams
  • Design detailed harnesses including routing definitions
  • Design and test enclosures for environmental protection
  • Design structural mounts for securing hardware in the airplane
  • Install and test hardware on remotely operated aircraft

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design
  • Ability to route harnessing in CAD and physically in an aircraft
  • Experience with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection
  • Experience designing and analyzing structural mounts

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in harness design and avionics packaging
  • Experience with aerospace flight harness design trades
  • Proficiency with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer
  • Experience designing avionics enclosures
  • Experience with certification-path aviation development projects
  • Experience testing hardware to DO-160 requirements
