Avionics Lead Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and verify safety-critical real-time embedded software for avionics applications conforming to DO-178 B/C standards.
• Spearhead requirement engineering activities, including gathering system requirements and documenting software requirements.
• Define interface requirement specifications and support tools for configuration customization and data dictionary definition.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to troubleshoot technical issues reported during system testing, simulator testing, flight tests, or in-service.
• Perform unit-level verification and integration testing for both software-to-software and software-to-hardware interfaces.
• Lead and mentor a technical team across design, development, testing, and interface activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in the full software lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, coding, and verification.
• Hands-on experience with embedded software requirements engineering and architecture (static and dynamic).
• Proficiency in embedded programming and unit/integration testing in both host and target environments.
• Strong knowledge of DO-178 standards and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Experience with software configuration management and industry standards for design and coding.
• Demonstrated project management and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to certification audits.
• Knowledge of industry-standard communication protocols such as ARINC 429 or RS422.
• Familiarity with avionics systems and networking architectures.
