Aviation Flight Instructor

Responsibilities

• Teach curriculum developed by the department to maximize student learning
• Plan and organize instruction, including preparing syllabi in accordance with department policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies and utilize instructional technology
• Modify instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse students
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student information

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single-Engine Land) with Instrument Rating
• Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
• Must meet one of the following:
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in a related field or college teaching experience
• Completion of at least 30 semester credit hours toward a bachelor's degree plus demonstrated teaching qualifications
• Other comparable education, training, or widely recognized professional experience
• Must reside in or be able to perform work within Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in aviation or a closely related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Additional FAA certificates such as CFII, MEI, AGI, or ATP
• Previous teaching experience in higher education, military instruction, or industry training
• Proficiency with learning management systems, simulation, and educational technologies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
