About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 technical support for escalated AV and AV network-related systems across the UBC Vancouver campus
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostics for software, firmware, system programming, security, hardware, and networks
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and architectural integration of complex AV systems, video conferencing, and digital signage
- Coordinate and oversee the installation of digital audio systems, video matrix systems, and control automation
- Provide technical guidance and functional supervision to AV Technicians regarding preventative maintenance and repair
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for various AV hardware and technologies, translating specifications into functional requirements
- Manage vendor relationships and lead communications with manufacturers for Tier 3 troubleshooting and repairs
- Maintain technical documentation, software account management, inventory, and warranty records
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of two years of related experience in AV or technical support roles
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's license
- Proficiency with Windows and Macintosh operating systems
- Experience using digital scopes and function generators
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certifications in audio-visual service and integration (e.g., CTS, Cisco, Biamp, or Crestron)
- Advanced skills in the installation and integration of AV equipment, including basic carpentry and electrical skills
- Extensive experience with AV application development and implementation best practices
- Proficiency with tools such as Crestron Toolbox, BiAmp DSP, and fiber testing equipment
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 kg and work at heights on ladders or man lifts
