Autonomy Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Implement and test vehicle-level state machines, flight sequencing, and mission autonomy routines in C++/Rust
• Support the development and verification of robust fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) software modules
• Set up, run, and evaluate software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations
• Write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and automated test scripts
• Analyze telemetry and log files to troubleshoot software anomalies
• Document autonomy logic, interface definitions, and test results
• Collaborate with systems, GNC, and avionics engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or aerospace
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
• Experience with Linux-based development environments
• Understanding of finite state machines and object-oriented design
• Familiarity with Git, build systems, and debuggers

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded systems
• Familiarity with spacecraft, launch vehicle, or UAV flight phases
• Experience with collegiate engineering teams like Formula SAE or rocket clubs
• Prior internship experience in an aerospace or robotics startup
