Autonomous Vehicle Engineer (Mechanical)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom brackets, mounts, and modular sub-assemblies for sensors, computers, and routing
• Design and validate mechanisms for real-time data acquisition, including wheel encoders and joint positions
• Measure physical trucks and machinery to create accurate CAD models for AV kit installation
• Create manufacturing drawings, manage supplier quotes, and oversee the fabrication process
• Build, test, and physically validate prototypes to resolve design issues
• Write detailed assembly instructions and maintenance plans for hardware
• Create and manage cross-project Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Requirements

• 2 or more years of experience as a mechanical design engineer (new graduates with strong internship/project work considered)
• Strong daily experience in SolidWorks, including sheet metal and surface modelling
• Deep knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing
• Proven ability to design for cost-effective production
• Hands-on experience building and validating prototypes
• Proficiency in creating technical drawings and assembly instructions
• Basic understanding of electrical integration (wiring, sensors, connectors)
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems including valves, cylinders, and air routing
