Automotive Mechanical Test Technician

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical test equipment for gasoline engines, heavy-duty diesel engines, axles, and transmissions
• Control and troubleshoot problems related to automotive and mechanical test laboratory equipment and test stands
• Perform mechanical maintenance functions on test stands and associated equipment
• Document testing data and communicate technical issues clearly to engineers and support groups
• Maintain housekeeping in test cells, areas, and common spaces
• Participate in shift rounds and support safety, environmental, and ISO initiatives
• Procure test parts and support equipment, ensuring proper account charging

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Experience in automotive or mechanical equipment testing (via work, vocational training, military, or hobbies)
• Strong mechanical acumen and familiarity with engine and driveline nomenclature
• Proficiency with hand tools and specialized measurement equipment (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers)
• Basic math skills and competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to lift 5-50 lbs and assist with moving heavy drums
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in non-climate-controlled environments
• Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
