About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform electronic and mechanical repairs and adjustments on police department vehicles and equipment
- Install and maintain aftermarket electronics including lighting systems, two-way radios, surveillance equipment, and in-car camera systems
- Conduct complete motor overhauls on gasoline or diesel-powered engines
- Replace and rebuild components such as universal joints, differentials, axles, transmissions, and clutches
- Repair and adjust hydraulic systems, including motors, hoses, and fittings
- Perform welding work incidental to repair assignments
- Manage inventory by ordering and maintaining a working stock of electronic and mechanical equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma, equivalent, or vocational school graduation
- Experience in automotive mechanical work at the journeyman level
- Valid Mississippi driver’s license
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s technical degree in electronics
- Military electronics training
- 1-3 years of electronics-specific experience
- 3-5 years of general related automotive experience
